Kisses for Kenady benefit poker run
An area family is turning from sorrow to saving lives as they reach out to others to donate to help a sick child. Stephanie McCaslin and Cassie Wagley recently lost their daughter, Kenady Charlotte Catherine Wagley, 15-months, to illness. Kenady's mothers were able to see beyond the tragedy of a life lost so early and realize that Kenady was not only a gift to them but also to other ill children in need. Kenady and her twin brother, Kastyn, were born more than 3 months premature. According to their mothers, both were fighters from day one and after more than five months in Arkansas Children's Hospital, Kenady and Kastyn were on their way home to Shady Point in July 2012. Kenady, who suffered from trouble breathing, was released after she received a tracheotomy.Nine months later, on April 3, Kenady suddenly quit breathing and was rushed to the hospital. Two days later, Kenady's family was told she wouldn't recover so Kenady was taken off of life support and her organs donated. In honor of Kenady's gift, her mothers are organizing the "Kisses from Kenady Poker Run" which will be held Saturday. Staging for the poker run will begin at Old Fort Harley Davidson of Fort Smith with the first bike out at 9 a.m., last by 10 a.m. The run will take participants to their first stop in Shady Point then on to Wister and Monroe then returning to Fort Smith for live entertainment and an auction at the Long Horn Saloon. The ride is $20 per rider, $10 per passenger or per extra poker hand. Grand prize winner of the run will receive a five-night stay on the beach in Gulf Shores, Miss., along with a second trip to Branson. They are offering 4 sponsor packages, each with it's own benefits. Sponsor prices start at $100 and increase.
