LEFLORE — The Leflore Savages baseball team is one win away from a district title, but they had to do it the hard way to reach that point.
The Savages, facing elimination all day Friday, beat Panola 10-2 and the lone undefeated team in the Class B District Tournament, Buffalo Valley, 9-7 in the first title game to force this afternoon's winner-take-all championship game at noon today.
The Savages split their games on Thursday, beating Whitesboro 13-5 but losing to Buffalo Valley 7-4.
The Bulldogs were the first team eliminated as they suffered an 8-5 loss to Panola, which lost Game 2 on Thursday 11-1 to Buffalo Valley. The ’Dogs ended the season at 3-17.
