Leflore boys nip Oktaha in CASC Invitational; Cameron boys lose to Crowder
The Leflore Savages baseball team reached tonight's championship semifinals as they held off the Oktaha Tigers 3-2 Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Carl Albert State College Invitational Tournament at CASC's Ival Goodman Field.The Savages will play the winner of the Red Oak game that took place Thursday night at Howe's Lions Field at 7:30 tonight at Lions Field in the championship semifinals, with the winner playing for the title at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ival Goodman Field. The loser will play for third place at 1 p.m. Saturday at CASC.The other local team who played at CASC on Thursday, the Cameron Yellowjackets, were shut out 8-0 by the Crowder Demons.The Yellowjackets will play an elimination game at noon today at Ival Goodman Field against whichever team lost the game involving Wister that took place Thursday night in Wister.The co-host Wildcats faced the winner between McCurtain and Kiowa. The winner will be in the other championship semifinal at 5 this afternoon at Lions Field for the right to play for the championship at 3 p.m. Saturday at CASC.The Howe Lions, the other co-host, faced Smithville Thursday afternoon on its home field with the winner facing Red Oak later that night on the same field. The winner will face Leflore tonight in Howe.
