LeFlore County Deputies investigate animal cruelty

December 14, 2011

Two men were arrested overnight after deputies found several dead animals during an animal cruelty investigation.

The LeFlore County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating an animal cruelty case near Smithville after they received a report in reference to several starving or deceased animals.
Albert McReynolds, 66, and William McReynolds, 18, are currently being held at the LeFlore County Detention Center on charges of animal cruelty.
According to Sheriff Bruce Curnutt, a deputy was dispatched to the McReynolds home Tuesday evening after a call was received about abuse of animals at the residence.
Curnutt stated during a phone interview this morning that multiple dead horses and dead dogs have been located on the property. Curnutt described the scene as horrific and graphic.
The Sheriff's Department is in the process of transporting the remaining animals in need of care to a local shelter.
