LeFlore County highest in state in unemployment

Recent unemployment numbers released by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission show employment rates hit a record high.
According OESC, even with the record high in employment, LeFlore County led the state in unemployed workers at 8.5 percent.
Out of an estimated labor force of 19,194 workers, 17,568 were employed, leaving 1,626 LeFlore County citizens without jobs. The over the year unemployment rate dropped from 10.5 percent to the current rate.
The employment report for the Poteau Local Labor Market shows that out of a total labor pool of 25,009 workers, 23,076 were employed while 1,993 were without jobs, an unemployment rate of 7.7 percent increasing more than 3 percent over the year.
