LeFlore County unemployment rate dips in June

LeFlore County unemployment rates dropped more than 0.5 percent, removing the county from the highest rates list for the first time in more than a year.
LeFlore County was one of two counties to report a decrease in unemployment during June, Sequoyah County the other. Over the year, LeFlore County unemployment rates have decreased 1 percent, dropping from 8.9 percent to 7.9 percent. Latimer County, McCurtain County and Hughes County were respectively named as the top three reporting highest unemployment rates for June at 9.2 percent, 8.9 percent and 8 percent.
Out of a workforce of 20,645 people in LeFlore County, 1,630 reported being unemployed. The employment report for the Poteau Local Labor Market, which includes LeFlore and Haskell counties, shows that, out of a total labor pool of 246,232 workers, 24,103 were employed, while 2,129 were without jobs, an unemployment rate of 8.1 percent, a slight increase over the year.
