Leflore teams stave off elimination at Class B Regional Tournament

February 17, 2012

STROUD — There will be at least one more day of basketball for both Leflore High School basketball teams.
Thursday afternoon at the Class B Regional Tournament, the Lady Savages and Savages each won their elimination games over Carney. The Lady Savages rolled past the Lady Bulldogs 58-35, then the Savages chewed up the ’Dogs 76-56.
Both Leflore teams will play elimination games here again this afternoon. The Lady Savages will play Braggs at 1:30 p.m. That winner will then play for the consolation championship here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday — and advance to next week's Class B Area Tournament in Cleveland, Okla. This afternoon's loser will be eliminated.
The Savages will face Mason at 3 p.m. this afternoon. That victor will play here at 3 p.m. Saturday for the consolation title, and a trip to the Class B Area Tournament. This afternoon's loser will be eliminated from the playoffs.
