Leflore, Whitesboro boys can make state on Friday night

February 26, 2014

I'M BACK! — Howe Lady Lion basketball player LuAnn Davis received the Class 2A District Tournament championship plaque from superintendent Scott Parks on Saturday night to give to her teammates. Davis recently had open heart surgery after collapsing during the 2014 LeFlore County Tournament. While she didn't play in Saturday night's title game, she did sit on the team's bench during the contest. Photo by Holly Cooper

Right now, LeFlore County has 18 high school teams left in the basketball playoffs. Two of those teams, the Leflore Savages and the Whitesboro Bulldogs, can be state qualifiers by the end of Friday night.
The Savages will play Red Oak at 8 p.m. Friday in Sand Springs in the area tournament, with the winner making the Class B State Tournament. The loser will still have a shot at state the next night by winning the consolation championship.
The ’Dogs will meet Southwest Covenant from Yukon at 8 p.m. Friday at Ada High School's Cougar Activity Center in the Class B Area Tournament. The winner will make state, while the loser will have another chance to earn a trip to state in the consolation championship game the following night.
