Light basketball schedule until Thanksgiving, then it's county hoop-la galore afterwards; Cameron's games Friday night at Gans canceled due to Grizzlies in Class B football playoffs

MAKE WAY, HERE I COME — Whitesboro's Whitney Ward, front, dribbles the ball downcourt against Leflore's Hannah Denton (No. 32) while Denton's teammate, Allison Todd (No. 11) trails the play during their game Nov. 7 in Leflore. When you look at this week's schedule at the end of this column, you'll see that there's not a lot of high school basketball on the slate. Really, after tonight's pretty busy night of basketball, there won't be such a night until after the Thanksgiving Break.
There's only two games on Thursday (including Bokoshe's season openers), and Friday's lone action, Cameron at Gans, has been canceled because the Grizzlies made it to the Class B state quarterfinals in football. Thus, that match-up won't take place Friday night, but I'm sure it will be rescheduled for a later date.
Unless the Cameron-Gans games are rescheduled for next week, or some other dates are moved to next week, there won't be any high school basketball games at all next week. Action won't resume until the week after Thanksgiving, when most of the football schools — Poteau, Arkoma, Heavener, Panama, Pocola, Spiro and Talihina — will begin their basketball seasons.
So, I'm going to enjoy the slowdown of hoops for the next two weeks so that this ol' man will be ready when LeFlore County hoop-la gets going in full force the week after Thanksgiving Break.
