Last weekend was a great one for Dwight Camp. He won the BASSMaster Weekend Series Oklahoma Two-Day Divisional Championship.
Camp's daily limit was three fish per day, and he ended up winning the event with a total of 16.41 pounds, of which 9.94 pounds was his Day 1 haul — including the big bass winner for the day, weighing 4.18 pounds.
Because of his Day 1 success, it made Camp's Day 2 a much-less stressful day of fishing. He ended up winning by four ounces, and pocket $2,014. There were 61 competitors in the field.
Camp said he used mostly squarebill crankbaits, biffle bugs or jigs. This was the biggest tournament he's ever won.
Outdoor Youth Class
Every Wednesday night, Stephen Billy, Johnny Baker and Bob Carter teach a youth outdoor class at Double Branch Baptist Church.
The class is aimed at kids ages 9-16. The participants will shoot bows, and learn how to tie knots, make campfires and everything else dealing with the great outdoors.
It's really different, and the kids love it. This past Wednesday night, Johnny brought his ol' trusty re-curve bow — I loved it.
Stephen threw an aspirin in the air, and Johnny would split it in half with his trusty bow from about 10 yards out. It was simply amazing! I bet he could hit a fly off a cow from 20-yards out!
It was a great time, and I loved Linda McDonald's banana pudding!
