Panama's Stephanie Barcheers, bottom center, dives back into first base under the tag of Colbert first baseman Jancey Weger, but umpire Dale Lowrimore, back left, calls obstruction on Weger as Weger's teammates Brewanna McCraw, left, and Kylie Stubbs look on during the seventh inning of the Class 2A Regional Tournament finals Friday afternoon in Wister. WISTER — The Panama Lady Razorbacks softball team was hoping to make it three straight trips to state, but they didn't quite make it.
After a Panama two-out rally in the Class 2A Regional Tournament championship game tied the game at 3, the Colbert Lady Leopards scored a run in the 11th inning to win the title 4-3 to make state.
The Lady ’Backs (ending the season at 23-15), who earlier eliminated the archrival Pocola Lady Indians 9-8, staved off elimination Thursday night by outlasting the host Wister Lady Wildcats 1-0 in eight innings to end Wister's season at 17-9.
The Lady Indians, who finish their season at 19-11, lost in the winner's-bracket final 7-5 to Colbert on Thursday night.
