Local softball trio in All-State FP Softball Games Saturday at OU; Poteau coach to be one of Middle East coaches

For three LeFlore County high school softball seniors, there will be one more fast-pitch game in their careers.
Poteau’s Shelby Standridge and Brenna Vise, along with Panama’s Taylor Eaves, will play in the 2013 Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-State Games Saturday at Marita Hynes Field at the University of Oklahoma Softball Complex in Norman.
The Poteau duo will play on the Middle East in the Middle School All-State Game at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Standridge and Vise will have the honor of playing for their coach, Misty Collins, one last time as Collins will be one of the Middle East coaches along with Valliant’s Tommy Howard.
After the Large School All-State Game at 1 p.m., Eaves and her Small East team will face the West in the Small School All-State Game at 3:30 p.m.
For Standridge, this will be the first of two All-State Games for the 2013 Poteau High School graduate. She will play in next Saturday’s Oklahoma Slow-Pitch Softball Coaches Association Large School All-State Game, which will also bFor Standridge, this will be the first of two All-State Games for the 2013 Poteau High School graduate. She will be joined by teammate Gabba Wilson, who had been an All-State alternate but is now part of the Large East team since one of the originally All-State players cannot make next weekend’s game.
