Local veteran honors fallen soldiers

November 14, 2011

Veteran of two foreign wars, C.A. "Pete" Peterson, honors fallen soldiers during the Veterans Day Flag Ceremony.

In remembrance of the men and women who gave their lives to protect the United States of America, the LeFlore County Disabled American Veterans and the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary, Chapter 63, held their annual Veterans Day Ceremony on the LeFlore County Courthouse lawn. The men and women of the DAV / DAVA placed flags atop the Veteran Memorial for each fallen member listed on the wall as their name was called out to the attending crowd.
C.A. Peterson, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, is one among many veterans who attended the ceremony. Peterson recently moved to LeFlore County after located his brother who he had been separated with 50 years ago.
Several LeFlore Countians, both military and civilian, along with students from the Poteau High School attended the ceremony Friday morning.
