Locals place at Class 3A State Meet

MOORE — Several LeFlore County high school track athletes and relay teams placed at the Class 3A State Meet, which took place this past weekend at Lions Stadium.
Heavener's Jodie Hill had two state runner-up finishes in the 100-meter (12.68 seconds) and 200-meter dashes (25.58), while finishing seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (18.08).
The Spiro Lady Bulldogs' foursome of Kaici Phillips, Jimmie Pool, Kanisha Hutchinson and Miriah Steele were second in the 800-meter relay (1:46.8), third in the 400-meter relay (51.25 seconds) and eighth in the 1,600-meter relay (4:18.91).
In the team standings, Spiro was third with 40 points, finishing behind state champion Henryetta (104 points) and Okmulgee (75). Heavener tied Hugo for 14th with 16 points.
On the boys side, Spiro's Malik Walker, Trevon Mitchem, Lafayette Hutchinson and McKinley Whitfield were state runners-up in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:32.38, while finishing third in the 400-meter relay (44.22 seconds).
In the team standings, Spiro tied for sixth with Chisholm with 34 points, finishing behind state champion Marlow (71 points), Oklahoma City Heritage Hall (58), Kansas (43), Lone Grove and Jones (40). Heavener was 25th with seven points.
