Man hospitalized after assaulted at local bar

August 7, 2012

Christopher Thomas, 38, is recovering in a Tulsa hospital after being beaten with a pool stick at a Poteau bar.

A Poteau mam is free on bond after he beat a man with a pool stick in a case of mistaken identity.
Michael Todd Thompson, 48, of Poteau, was charged with assault and battery with great bodily injury Saturday after he allegedly beat Christopher Thomas, 38, in the head with a pool stick.
According to the arrest report, Thompson believed Thomas was another man who had set his parents rental property on fire. When Thomas left the bar, Thompson followed him and struck him multiple times.
Thomas ran from the scene to a nearby hotel and asked a friend to take him to the hospital. He was later transferred to Tulsa for a serious head injury.
Thompson was released on a $7,500 bond Monday.
