Marie Faye Hendrix

Marie Faye Hendrix, 90, of McCurtaindied Aug. 10, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark.She was born July 30, 1921, in Bokosheto Elisha Elbert and Clara Angeline(McCullar) Whitfield. She was a seamstressand housewife. Marie was a memberof the McCurtain Eastern Star for 30 years,and a faithful member of the First BaptistChurch of Bokoshe for more than 70 years.She was a beloved mother, sister, grandma, great-grandmaand friend to everyone. Marie will be greatly missed by allwho knew her.She was preceded in death by her parents; her belovedhusband, Otto A. Hendrix; and two brothers, DonaldWhitfield and Leonard Whitefield.Surviving her are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rogerand Ruth Hendrix of Poteau and Steve and Jeanne Hendrixof Bokoshe; a daughter, Cheryl Hendrix of McCurtain;seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers,Frank Whitfield and wife Geneva of Porum and EugeneWhitfield and wife Helen of Collinsville; one sister, GayBlan and husband Ken of Claremore; numerous nieces,nephews, and a host of other family members, friends, andloved ones.Pallbearers will be Larry Carver, John Phillips, J.D.Phillips, Charles Wells, Pim Tankersley and R.C. Culwell.Honorary pallbearers will be Paul LeFlore, Jim Lyons,Gary Carver, Lance, Ryan, Aaron, Samantha, Sarah, andCandice Hendrix, Kenny, Ricky and Jerry Blan, Keith,Kelley and Kris Whitfield, and Bradley Whitfield.Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, atthe First Baptist Church in Bokoshe with Bro. Jerry Turnerofficiating. Burial will follow service at Milton Cemetery,Bokoshe.The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday atthe funeral home in Poteau. Services are under the directionof Grace Manor Funeral Home.
