Marie M. Ford, 79, of Wister, formerly of Norman died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark. Marie was born in Wister on Dec. 9, 1934, to George H. and Marie (Harmon) Henson. She retired from Little Axe School as librarian after 17 years. She was also a homemaker who loved to cook and loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing and camping in the deer woods with her extended family. She will be greatly missed. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Burton Ford; four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her son, John Ford and wife Crystal of Little Axe; granddaughters, Nicole McCraw of Little Axe, Tasha McCraw of Oklahoma City, Jessica and husband Bobby Shackelford and great-granddaughter, Jaidyn Shackelford of Tecumseh; brother, Michael Henson of Muskogee; sisters, Vernoyise Ford of Wister, Ruby Horton of Howe, Jodie Davis of Arcadia, Linda Jackson of Nashville, Tenn., Gwinda Quarry of Poteau, Brenda Hendon of Wister, Judy Whittenberg of Muskogee, Alice Shelton of Warner, Violet Riley of Porter, Shirli Thomas of Lodi, Calif.; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Ellis Chapel Church in Wister with the Revs. Jack Covey and Lamar Ford officiating. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery.Â
Pallbearers will be Ross and Ryan Green, Jeff and Maury Ford, Clendon and Aaron Brown.
Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, is handling arrangements.
