Mental Lillian Balentine, 93, of Wister died Thursday, Aug. 16,2012 in Poteau.
Mental was born Oct. 19,1918, in Lone, Ark., to Benjamin and Luella (Farmer) Wann. Mental was a housewife who loved to visit with family and spoil her nieces and nephews. She worked many years operating an insurance agency and was a avid gardener who loved to grow beautiful flowers in her yard. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Wister.
Mental was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Wedge, and her second husband, Fred Balentine; no children were born to either marriage; six siblings, Reathel Andrews, Ruthie Gatlin, Rotha Balentine, Farmer Wann, Coolidge Wann, Gaylord Wann; her parents, Ben and Luella; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruthie and Hosea Gatlin, Rotha and Baysul Balentine, Reathel and Clayton Andrews; brother and sister-in-law, Farmer and Wilka Wann; brothers, Gaylord Wann and Coolidge Wann; niece Nelda Clark and nephew Wayne Andrews.
Mental is survived by sisters-in-law, Patsy Wann of Pocola; Leta Wann of Poteau, Dorthy Wann of Pocola, along with loving nieces and spouses, Sandy and Neil Wilson of Pocola, Gaylene Wartzbacker of Bentonville, Arlk, Debbie Wann of Tulsa, Lodema Franklin of San Diego, Calif., Thelma Andrews of Heavener; nephews and spouses, Aud and Treca Balentine of Wister, Ronnie and Debbie Wann of Siloam Springs, Ark., Len Gatlin of El Centro, Calif., Jimmy and Sharon Sweet of California, and Mike and Mary Andrews of Heavener.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Evans and Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with Revs. Don Taylor and Monty Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Andrews, Ronny Wann, Neil â€śSpeedyâ€ť Wilson, James Chaplin, Bentley Hill, and Aud Balentine. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Wilson, Shea Ellis, Timmy Damata, Mason Wann, Michael Andrews and Bobby Balentine.
