Miss PHS pageant slated for Saturday

Each year students take to the stage for the annual Miss Poteau High School pageant. This year's event proceeds will help the PHS Silver Steppers dance team travel to the National Dance Team Competition in March.
The pageant will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. Doors open to the public at 6 p.m.
Twenty-two contestants will answer onstage questions, participate in a casual wear and evening gown competition. The opening act for the night will be a choreographed dance performed by the contestants.
This year's contestants are: Taylor Nixon, daughter of Trena Nixon and Kevin Nixon; Jenna Stites, daughter of Terry and Johnette Stites; Jonelle Edwards, daughter of Jerry Daniels and Juliet Edwards; Maria-Elena Hurtado, daughter of Tamara Hurtado-McCool; Sunnie McConnell, daughter of Terry and Kathy McConnell; Kayla Alexander, daughter of Missy and Dennis Alexander; Kaeli Lovell, daughter of Ava and Jeremy Lovell; Taylor Rutledge, daughter of Lorie and Steven Rutledge; Chloee Rolens, daughter of Katie & Charlie Rust and David Rolens; Nicole Chavez, daughter of Maria Chavez; Natalie Darby, daughter of Sheila and Dustin Darby; Montana Roll, daughter of Marilyn and Danny Presley and Jim Roll; Jaci Webster, daughter of Staci Jackson and Jason Webster; Mikalyn Reif, daughter of Becky and Michael Reif; Haven Perry, daughter of Nikki and John Perry; Kimberly Ocampo, daughter of Maximina Ocampo Chavez and Justino Nava Rojo; Tabitha Waldrop, daughter of Mary and Shane Waldrop; Kara Williams, daughter of Jennifer and David Williams; Morgan Giles, daughter of Patty Giles and Wendell and Tracea Giles; Charlee Gilliam, daughter of Tracey and Jamie Gilliam; Rebakah Gummere, daughter of Sandy Gummere; Juana Woodward, daughter of Susan Himes.
According to Patty Giles, Silver Steppers coach, the dance team also received several other awards at camp including a trophy for innovative choreography and a spirit award that was voted on by all teams at the camp.
Two Silver Stepper dancers, Morgan Giles and Emily Ralls, were named to the All-American team
