SPIRO â€” The Spiro Bulldogs lost a heart-breaking nine-inning game to the Poteau Pirates in the finals of the 32nd LeFlore County Tournament earlier this month. The â€™Dogs avenged that loss Monday on Senior Night with a 9-4 win over the Pirates.
After the Pirates tied the game at 4 in the third inning, the Bulldogs scored twice in the third inning and once in the fourth inning â€” all unearned runs â€” to take a 7-4 lead. The â€™Dogs added two more runs in the fifth inning.
Heavener 4, Broken Bow 3: In Heavener, the Wolves celebrated Senior Night with a victory.
Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, the Wolves scored twice in the second and third innings for a 4-1 lead after three innings.
Talihina 12, Hartshorne 1: In Talihina, the Golden Tigers broke a 1-all tie after an inning with a single run in the second inning and a pair of five-run innings in the third and fourth innings.
Wister 3, Eufaula 0: in Eufaula, the Wildcats broke a scoreless tie with a bases-loaded walk to Hunter Prock and an RBI single by Cody Holzhammer in the sixth inning for a 2-0 lead. Tyler Gibsonâ€™s RBI single in the seventh made it 3-0.
Red Oak 12, Pocola 6: In Pocola, the Eagles jumped out to an 8-0 lead by the third inning.
The Indians scored four runs in the third to cut the deficit in half at 8-4 after three innings but got no closer.
Editorâ€™s note: Tuesdayâ€™s Talihina-Whitesboro game and Spiro's road game against Farmington, Ark., were rained out and wonâ€™t be rescheduled.
