STILWELL — Two NOAA Conference games, two wins for the Poteau Lady Pirates — and convincing victories, at that.
The Lady Pirates had little problem in defeating the Stilwell Lady Indians by a score of 49-29 on Monday night.
The Lady Pirates (5-3, 2-0 in conference play) jumped out to a 10-1 lead after a period to take control of the game. Poteau had a 22-12 lead at halftime.
If the Lady Indians had hopes for a second-half comeback, they were dashed in the third quarter as the Lady Pirates outscored them 14-6 to take a 36-18 lead into the final period.
Even with the reserves in the game for the last quarter, Poteau outscored Stilwell 13-11.
Howe 56, Pocola 44: In Howe, the Lady Lions doubled the Lady Indians 14-7 in the opening period, but Pocola edged Howe 13-12 in the second quarter to cut the halftime deficit to 26-20.
The Lady Indians continued the comeback, outscoring the Lady Lions 5-1 to cut the Howe lead to 27-25 with about six minutes left in the third quarter. However, that was as close as Pocola got.
Talihina 41, Stigler 38: In Talihina, the Lady Golden Tigers had to withstand a late 3-point barrage by the Lady Panthers to get the win.
Trailing 29-20 after three periods, the Lady Panthers hit four 3s in the final quarter to help them to an 18-12 period, but the rally fell short.
Mena, Ark., 52, Heavener 45: In Heavener, Mena led 9-7 after a period and 27-25 at halftime.
In the second half, the visitors took a 36-33 lead into the final period, where Mena doubled Heavener 16-8 to secure the victory.
Roland 54, Spiro 44: In Spiro, the Lady Rangers jumped out to a 12-8 lead after a period en route to a 29-23 halftime advantage.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Rangers 11-9 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 38-34 going into the final period.
However, Roland outscored Spiro 16-10 to get the road victory.
