March 12, 2013

MUSKOGEE — After losing its home opener Saturday afternoon, the Poteau Pirates baseball team bounced back with a road come-from-behind victory over the Hilldale Hornets by a score of 7-4.
Howe 24, Arkoma 0: In Arkoma, the Lions made it 2-for-2 to begin the season. Howe took control of the game by scoring 10 runs in the first inning, then added nine in the second inning and five in the third inning.
Whitesboro 10, Clayton 3: In Clayton, the Bulldogs opened the season in fine fashion, but had to come from behind to do so.
Down 3-1, the ’Dogs scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead, then added six runs in the seventh to put the game away.
Editor's note — Two of Monday's games, Quinton at Talihina and Leflore at Buffalo Valley, were canceled due to wet fields. Both coaches, Talihina's Jon Bradberry and Leflore's Tony Marris, said they are trying to find an open date to reschedule their respective game.
