WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro Bulldogs used late-inning offense to bounce back from Saturday night's loss to Wister in the title game of the Howe Wood Bat Classic.
Down 9-1 in the fifth inning, the Bulldogs came back to claim a 12-11 victory over the Leflore Savages Monday night.
Wister 12, McCurtain 10: In Wister, the Wildcats were able to outlast the Bulldogs to get the week off on the right foot.
The ’Cats (12-6) scored five runs in the second inning to take a 7-3 lead after two innings. A pair of runs in each the third and fourth innings put Wister ahead 11-4 entering the fifth inning.
However, the ’Dogs made things interesting as a four-run sixth and a two-run seventh cut the McCurtain deficit to 12-10, and the Bulldogs had the tying run at the plate with a runner at first base.
However, Wister pitcher Austin Vanhook got the batter to ground into a game-ending double play to preserve the win.
Editor's Note — The Cameron-Howe game was only a junior varsity contest.
