WISTER — Grant Ralls, Panama's softball coach, said this was going to be a tough week for his Class 2A defending state champion Lady Razorbacks. If the first game is any indication, he's right.
The Lady Razorbacks were able to rally past the Wister Lady Wildcats for a 4-3 victory Monday afternoon.
Heavener 8, Howe 0; Idabel 8, Heavener 6; Idabel 10, Howe 0: In Heavener, the Lady Wolves split their two games, while the Lady Lions fell twice.
Arkoma 5, Braggs 3, 9 inn; Arkoma 12, Braggs 5: In Arkoma, Shaylea Whisenhunt's game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning won the opener for the Lady Mustangs.
In the nightcap, the Lady Mustangs, who trailed 1-0 in the opening inning, scored six runs in their half of the inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Talihina 7, Stigler 4: In Talihina, the Lady Golden Tigers, playing for the first time in almost a week, didn't let time off affect them on Monday. Talihina jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning, which became a 4-0 advantage after two innings.
Pocola 9, Sallisaw-Central 2: In Sallisaw, the Lady Indians broke a scoreless tie with a three-run second inning. A three-run fifth inning put them ahead 6-0.
Keota 10, Cameron 2; Keota 10, Cameron 1: In Keota, in the opener, the Lady Yellowjackets led 1-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI hit by Cindy Hicks, but the Lady Lions took advantage of Cameron miscues to win going away.
In the nightcap, Dunigan had the run batted in.
Buffalo Valley 6, Whitesboro 1: In Buffalo Valley, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening inning as an RBI single by Abigail Phillips scored Lexey Branscum.
However, from there it was all Lady Buffaloes, who scored once in the third inning, twice in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning to get the win.
