A two vehicle accident in Panama Friday morning left traffic backed up temporarily
as many were trying to get to school and work. According to the accident report,
Sarah Painter, 23, of Panama was stopped at the US Highway 59 and Tecumseh
intersection waiting to turn left onto the highway. Two vehicles were traveling
northbound when the one on the inside lane signaled to turn right onto Tecumseh.
Painter, not seeing the second vehicle driven by Brian Fassette, 65, of Heavener in
the inside lane, began to cross the highway resulting in Fassette colliding with her
car. The report shows that Fassette attempted to stop but was unable to do so. Both
drivers and their passengers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
No one sustained major injuries in the accident and traffic resumed to a normal
flow quickly.
