The good news was that no LeFlore County baseball or softball team lost their games Thursday afternoon. But they didn't win them, either.
Thursday's rain postponed all of the county baseball and softball games, as well as Poteau High School's season-opening track meet at Fort Smith (Ark.) Southside High School.
Baseball games rained out Thursday were Heavener at Poteau, Cameron at Pocola, Howe and Battiest at Leflore, Union Christian, Ark., at Arkoma, Hartford, Ark., at Panama and Spiro at Tulsa Union.
Panama Baseball Coach Chris Gollihare said the Hartford game will try to be rescheduled, but it has not been done so yet.
There's a chance the Heavener-Poteau and Cameron-Pocola games could be rescheduled, but have not been done so at this time. It is not known at this time whether the Spiro-Tulsa Union game will be rescheduled. All other games will not be rescheduled.
Softball games rained out Thursday were Poteau at Spiro, Arkoma at Leflore, Cameron and Battiest at Heavener, Sequoyah-Tahlequah and Red Oak at Pocola and Panama at Keota.
Pocola Coach Carrie Covey said that her team's three-way will be rescheduled, but has not been done so at this time. It is not known if the the Panama-Keota game will be rescheduled, but Panama'sTuesday road game at Red Oak which was canceled due to the Lady Eagles just getting out of basketball playoffs has been rescheduled as part of a newly-formed three-way April 3 in Panama with Wister, beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday's other softball games will not be rescheduled at this time.
Poteau's Saturday home three-way with Checotah and Broken Bow was moved to a single 4 p.m. contest this afternoon against Checotah. The Savages will not be a part of the festivities.
Poteau's home softball game this afternoon with Roland was canceled due to the fact that Roland's boys basketball team is in the Class 4A State Tournament semifinals today. Poteau Coach Misty Collins said that the game will try to be rescheduled, but it has not been done so yet.
Also, today's Heavener-Eagletown-Whitesboro three-way was canceled by Whitesboro, which canceled all athletic events this week due to last weekend's tragic automobile accident which claimed the life of boys basketball coach Wayne Tucker. The games will not be rescheduled.
Wet fields postponed Pocola's road softball game this afternoon at Keota. If an opening can be found, Coach Carrie Covey said today's game will be rescheduled.
Wister's road softball game this afternoon was postponed due to the combination of wet fields and the fact that the Lady Eagles just finished being at the Class B State Basketball Tournament last weekend. The game has not been rescheduled at the moment.
The Pansy Kidd Middle School track teams will participate at the Greenwood (Ark.) Invitational today.
