Mother Nature rains out several athletic events Thursday (NEWLY UPDATED)
Thursday's big winner was Mother Nature as she rained out several athletic events on day.The Poteau Pirates had their two games in the Fort Gibson Tournament rained out on Thursday. They have been rescheduled for today — 2:30 p.m. against Tulsa Victory Christian and 5 p.m. against Bristow.Several other regular-season baseball games — Wister at Spiro, Wilburton at Pocola, Heavener at Hartshorne and Talihina and Tushka at Crowder — were all rained out. The games will not be rescheduled since Class 2A and 3A district tournaments are slated for next week.As for Class A and B district tournaments that were to have started Thursday, they were rained out and will start today.In the Class A District Tournament at Cameron, the Howe Lions and the host Yellowjackets will play at 3 this afternoon, with the loser meeting the Smithville Braves at 5 p.m. The Howe-Cameron winner will then play Smithville at 7 p.m. The title game is now slated for 1 p.m. Saturday, with the if-game at 3 p.m.In the Class B District Tournament at Whitesboro, the host Bulldogs and the Battiest Panthers will play at 3 p.m. Friday, with the loser meeting the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes at 5 p.m. The Whitesboro-Battiest winner will then play Buffalo Valley at 7 p.m. The title game and/or if-game will be played on Saturday.The Leflore Savages and the Kinta Eagles were rained out on Day 1 of the Class B District Tournament at McCurtain. The tournament will begin Friday with Leflore meeting Kinta at noon, with the loser playing the host Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. The Leflore-Kinta winner will then play McCurtain at 5 p.m. The title game will be played at noon Saturday, with the if-game to follow at 2 p.m. if needed.In the Class A District Tournament at Gore, the Arkoma Mustangs will play the Gans Grizzlies at 9 a.m. Friday, with the loser playing the host Pirates at 11 a.m. The Arkoma-Gans winner will then meet Gore at 1 p.m.The Poteau Lady Pirates' home game Thursday against Sallisaw was rained out, and will not be rescheduled.For the Cameron girls, the Class 2A District Tournament in Stuart was rained out Thursday and will go at Thursday's times on Friday. Haileyville at host Stuart will play at noon, followed by Cameron and Kiowa at 1:15 p.m. The losers will play at 2:30 p.m. in an elimination game, followed by the winner's bracket final at 3:45 p.m. The loser's bracket final will be at 5 p.m. with the title game at 6:15 p.m. and the if-game if needed at 7:30 p.m.The Broken Bow Invitational track meet at Memorial Stadium, which was to feature the Heavener, Howe and Spiro track teams, was rained out. It has been reschedule for a 3 p.m. Monday start at Memorial Stadium.Carl Albert's softball home doubleheader against Seminole State was rained out Thursday and will be made up at 2 p.m. April 26. The twinbill was originally rescheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
