Mother Nature spoils Monday's baseball, SP softball games; Poteau softball games canceled this week due to basketball playoffs

March 4, 2014

Sunday afternoon's sleeting show played havoc with Monday's high school baseball and slow-pitch softball games.
Monday baseball games canceled were Fort Gibson at Poteau, Hartshorne at Cameron, Arkoma at Panama and Pocola at Oktaha.
Monday softball games canceled were Bokoshe and Porum at Wister, Warner at Panama, Heavener and Broken Bow at Smithville and Spiro at Keota.
As of now, all of these games will try to be rescheduled except two softball match-ups — Warner at Panama and Heavener and Broken Bow at Smithville.
Also, the Poteau Lady Pirates will wait at least until next week to begin their slow-pitch season as their three games this week, this afternoon at home with Wister, Thursday at Roland and Friday at Heavener, have been canceled due to the Lady Pirates basketball team being in this week's Class 4A Area Tournament in Wilburton.
Editor's note: Cameron's baseball team opened the season Saturday with a 5-3 loss to the Muldrow Bulldogs. Look for more information on this game in a later edition.
