Mud races carry big payoff at Balloonfest

Ever since there have been trucksand mud, people have been combiningthe two for sport and recreation.This year’s Balloonfest is no exception.On Saturday, October 22, thePoteau Balloonfest will play host toAMMP Motorsports’ Third AnnualRumble on the River mud race. Theevent features the top ten mud racersin the United States tearing throughfour different 300-foot-long mud pitsincluding “The Swamp Pit”, a sixfoot deep mud pit that has neverbefore been bested. The Swamp Pitat the Poteau Balloonfest is only thethird such pit constructed for professionalcompetition and any driverwho successfully clears it will win$750 cash on the spot. Thanks to thegenerous sponsors of the PoteauBalloonfest, the purse for the overallwinner of the competition is $5,000.Also, as an added bonus to thecompetition, children 7 years old andunder can compete in the Little Tikespowerwheel mud races.
