My exciting Fourth of July Weekend week
Our Fourth of July weekend started on July 3. We all loaded up and went over the mountains to Talihina to run in the 5k event at “Boom in the Valley” at the Choctaw Nation Hospital. There were 477 runners. I made it to the finish line in 33:31, and that was a great time for me since it was very hot.After the race, we got our Poteau group together in our corner of the parking lot to watch the big fireworks show. I was starving after running that race, so had I a chilicheese dog for an appetizer and a double cheeseburger with chips for my main course. For dessert, I had a barbecue pulled pork sandwich. I know it sounds like a lot, but I didn't want to be rude. I felt I needed to try to taste the food from all the vendors present, just to be the fair reporter that I am! We ended up getting home that night at 11:45 p.m.On the Fourth of July, we loaded the pontoon boat and headed to Lake Eufaula. We met up with the Qualls family — Mike, Stacey, Stetson and Caston at Million Dollar Island.
