The LeFlore County Bass Club had its latest tournament of the 2012 circuit March 18 at Highway 9 East Landing on Lake Eufaula. There were 27 boats in the tournament field with 48 anglers, who caught a combined total of 82 fish with a combined weight of 206.17 pounds. The average fish weighed 2.51 pounds, and 11 limits were caught.
Topping the tournament field were Andy “Capp” Nance and Rodney “Carrington” Faulkenberry, who caught a total of 18.14 pounds of fish to earn $600.
Robbie Brassfield and Keith “Stone” Jones were second (16.19 pounds, $360), followed by “Good Luck” Chuck Restine and Dan Franklin (15.47, $240) in third place.
Gary “Klein” Steelman had the big bass winner, weighing 7.24 pounds to earn him $240.
Rounding out the top 10 were Steelman and Keith “Pipes” Griffith in fourth (14.45 pounds), followed by Doug Rodgers and Nick Cox (14.15), Joe Phillips and Nathan Asbill (12.14), Brian Adams and Curtis Adams (11.57), Judd Wann and Josh Roberts (11.35), Jody Adams and Bruce Vincent (10.62) and Haskell and A.J. Higgins (10.53).
We all stayed at “The Steelman Campground” at Lake Eufaula, which is a big ol' cabin on the lake that “Big” Gary and Rhonda Steelman have. “Big” Gary grilled out brats and pork chops, while Rhonda cooked up everything else in the world!
Thank you guys for everything, and I love sitting out on the front porch, visiting with you guys just as much as I like fishing!
The next tournament will be an open tournament from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Staurday at Wards Landing on Wister Lake. The entry fee is $40 per angler. For additional information, call “The Jody Ray Fishing Hotline” at (918) 649-7387.
The next tournament in the 2012 circuit for the LeFlore County Bass Club will be April 14 at Lake Tenkiller.
A Spring Break Trip
to OSU Baseball Camp
During Spring Break, we went to Stillwater to the Oklahoma State Spring Baseball Camp, which took place March 20 at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. There were kids from all over the state, and we made friends with all of them!
OSU volunteer assistant coach Cole Gordon, who is from Poteau, ran the camp, and my son, Jacques, had a great time.
We love Stillwater. He loved Eskimo Joe's, shooting pool and loving the fried mushrooms and its famous cheese fries.
Coach Gordon and all the OSU Cowboy players made us feel right at home. Thank you, guys. They all called me sir, saying “Yes, sir!” I guess I'm at that age now where that will be said to me often, and I will just have to get used to it.
Save the world — recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend.
