It was heartbreak for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings softball team Wednesday afternoon. After being only a win away Tuesday afternoon from making Friday's main draw of the Region II Tournament, the season came to a crashing halt.
The Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Lady Mavericks took the rubber game of the Region II Tournament Play-In Series on Wednesday afternoon by outlasting the Lady Vikings 21-19 in a game that took almost three hours to play.
The Lady Vikings split the first two games of the series Tuesday afternoon, run-ruling the Lady Mavericks 10-1 in five innings in the opener but losing 10-9 in the nightcap to force Wednesday afternoon's winner-take-all game.
