Now we get going non-stop with baseball, softball

March 6, 2012

While we had a few baseball and softball teams open their seasons late last week, the rest of those teams who haven't yet will do so this week.
The schedule is listed below.
The Wister Wildcats, beginning the defnse of their Class 2A state championship, will face the Elgin Owls at 7 p.m. Friday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
Whitesboro Games Canceled This Week
Due to the tragic death of Whitesboro Boys Basketball Coach Wayne Tucker, the school has canceled all its baseball and softball games this week.
Spring Sports Guide
The 2012 Spring Sports Guide will come out in the March 24 edition, the Saturday edition which ends Spring Break week.
For coaches who have not returned your spring sports questionnaires I mailed out last month, please do so ASAP. The information on the questionnaires will be used to write the season preview stories for the county high school teams in baseball, slow-pitch softball, golf, soccer and track.
Also, we need team photographs to go with the team season-preview stories. For those schools which had fast-pitch softball and fall baseball, if coaches want me to use those photographs which ran in the 2011 Fall Diamond Tab, those will be acceptable.
All of the questionnaires and team photos will be needed by the final day of school before Spring Break, since it will be the early portion of Spring Break week in which I will prepare the 2012 Spring Sports Guide.
Team photographs can be emailed to me at sports@poteaudailynews.com. Questionnaires can be faxed to me at (918) 647-8198.
Thanks for your cooperation.
