Now we know what Douglass people think of we Poteauians; Class 4A state title game to be broadcast live on Fox Sports Oklahoma

December 3, 2013

After one of the greatest wins in Poteau Pirates football history, I was surprised at all of the negativity that came from the game. You need to read the story about Saturday's Class 4A state semifinal contest between the Pirates and the Oklahoma City Douglass Trojans in the Sunday edition of The Oklahoman, and then read the comments at the end of the story.
The Douglass coach called we Poteau fans, “Rednecks.”
Poteau defeated the fourth-ranked team, Clinton. They defeated the third-ranked Trojans. Poteau has one game remaining, and that is against the top-ranked Anadarko Warriors at 1 p.m. Friday at OSU's Boone Pickens Stadium. For the record, the game will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports Oklahoma.
