NWS warns winter weather likely

January 31, 2014

Snow and sleet may return to the area in the coming days raising the risk of hazardous travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
Light rain or drizzle was for forecast in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Friday and Saturday, but the impact on roads was expected to be "light" — mainly slick spots on bridges, overpasses and untreated roadways, the NWS said Friday.
Stronger weather systems were predicted to bring accumulations of ice from snow and sleet Sunday and again Monday night through Tuesday night. The NWS said the amounts and areas most likely to be hit were uncertain.
The NWS also said dangerous wind chill factors are possible next week.
