The LeFlore County Bass Club had its sixth tournament of the 2012 circuit Sunday at Potato Hills South on Sardis Lake. There were 26 boats with 52 serious anglers who caught a total of 53 fish weighing a combined total of 136.35 pounds. The average fish weighed 2.57 pounds, and there were eight limits caught.
The winning duo was Tim O'Daniel and David Kirkes, who hauled in 18.75 pounds of fish including one Kirkes caught which weighed 7.46 pounds â€” which wasn't even the big bass winner. They pocketed $625 for the win.
Bob Denton and Jason Roberts were second (15.33 pounds, $375), while Rodney Faulkenberry and Andy Nance were third (15.33, $250) â€” which included Faulkenberry's big bass winner, which was an 8.81-pound lunker which earned him an additional $250.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Billy and Marla Wilson in fourth place at 14.12 pounds, followed by Keith Griffith and Gary Steelman (12.93 pounds), Jeff Hardin and Dennis Roper (11.87), Robbie Brassfield and Keith Jones (9.08), Haskell and A.J. Higgins (8.75), Joey Chitwood and Kyle Parker (6.96) and Kevin Bell and Danette Been (4.87).
The Club's next tournament will be June 3 at Ward's Landing on Wister Lake.
The eighth annual â€śHooked on Fishin'â€ť Kids Bass Tournament will take place from 7 a.m. until noon June 2 at Long Lake Resort. There will be two age divisions, ages 8 to 11 and 12 to 15. The second annual Beck Brown Scholarship Bass Tournament will take place from 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. June 2 at Clear Creek (Ozark Pool) in Arkansas.
