Anglers are concerned about the population status of crappie in Lake Wister.
Fisheries biologists sample crappie to monitor abundance trends as well as age vs. growth.
There is no data to suggest a problem exists or is looming.
Crappie growth is excellent with most individuals reaching 10 inches by age two and abundance trends are onthe rise.
However, management staff will hold a public meeting to provide anglers with current sampling data, answer questions, and address concerns regarding the fishery.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. March 1 at the Kiamichi Technology Center in Poteau.
