Offense highlighted 2013 season openers last week

September 14, 2013

If you liked offense, several of the 2013 season openers for LeFlore County football teams fulfilled your wishes.
The Poteau Pirates outlasted the Durant Lions 43-42 in double overtime for starters.
The Arkoma Mustangs lost a game in which an even 100 points were scored, falling 62-38 to the Keota Lions.
The Talihina Golden Tigers hung 70 points on the Wilburton Diggers in their home opener.
Three teams opened their seasons with wins — Poteau, Panama and Talihina. Heavener got its chance Friday night to do the same thing.
About This Column
This column publishes weekly during the high school football season. My goal is to always get this published by Friday editions — before games kick off. However, this week, space constraints made me hold the inaugural 2013 Gridiron Notes Column until today's edition.
At times, it will mention — like today's column — some highlights from last week.
It will also have a Offensive and a Defensive Player of the Week, list all 100-yard rushers, passers and receivers, all those who scored 12 points or more and the Defensive Honor Roll from last week's games.
