OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is issuing a warning about a lottery scam that he says cost one couple $20,000.
Pruitt says the couple reported that a man told them they had won the lottery and a new car — but had to first pay taxes and fees up front. The couple also said the man told them he knew Pruitt and that the transactions were approved by the attorney general's office.
Pruitt says legitimate lottery and sweepstakes organizations do not ask for money up front.
