OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City psychiatrist has pleaded guilty to a health care fraud charge.
Federal prosecutors announced Tuesday that 53-year-old Amar Nath Bhandry entered a guilty plea to defrauding the Medicaid program. He could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Bhandry is accused of submitting claims to Medicaid for reimbursement for services he allegedly did not provide. Prosecutors say he charged the program that provides health care to the poor for examinations of up to 50 minutes while seeing patients only 10 to 20 minutes.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Sentencing will be set later.
