KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Oklahoma Elite softball team is now facing elimination every time it takes the field from here on at the 2011 World Series.
A day after posting a comeback victory, the Elite had the same thing done to it. Trailing 4-2, Nemesis 16 Gold from Lincoln, Neb., rallied to down the Elite 5-4 Friday morning.
The loss dropped the Elite into the loser's bracket, with the first elimination game slated for 8 a.m. this morning. The Elite must win five games today to survive to see action on Sunday.
The Elite had a pair of wins on Thursday as bracket play began in the World Series. In the opener, the Elite handled the Swingbuilders Lightning Green from Blue Spring, Mo., 12-3 in a five-inning, run-rule contest, but then had to rally in extra innings in the international tie-breaker to down the Northern Blast from Becker, Minn., by a score of 5-3 in eight innings.
