ARVADA, Colo. — The Oklahoma Elite softball team, which features players from Poteau, Spiro, Smithville and Red Oak, suffered its first losses of the Triple Crown Colorado Sparkler Tournament Friday at Lutz Complex.
The Elite dropped its first game of the tournament, falling 1-0 to the Bat Blasters, then lost 5-3 to Orange County, Calif.
In Friday's loss to the Bat Blasters, the game was scoreless through six innings, when the opponent broke through with a run in the seventh inning for a 1-0 lead.
The Elite was then retired in order in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
In defeat, Spiro's Braylin Gray was 3-for-3, while Poteau's Gabba Wilson and Sidnee Ward, Spiro's Kaylee Cox and Red Oak's Kendra Coleman were each 1-for-3.
Poteau's RaeLynn Caldwell suffered the loss, despite having two strikeouts and no earned runs allowed.
In Friday's loss to Orange County, the Elite scored three runs in the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough.
In defeat, Gray and Coleman were 2-for-3 with Poteau's Shelby Standridge and Smithville's Lexi Watson were 1-for-3 with a run scored and Ward was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Cox suffered the loss.
