Opening day 2013 has arrived on the diamond; Poteau's baseball opener moved to CASC

March 1, 2013

We're back! My favorite time of the year has arrived as the spring baseball and slow-pitch softball seasons will begin today for a few teams and most everyone else next week.
For those new to the area, this column runs usually every Tuesday morning with the ins and outs, ups and downs, what's upcoming, the weekly schedules in both sports and Pitchers and Hitters of the Week in each sport — by the way, coaches, you may nominate players for those honors is you wish.
However, since today is opening day for three baseball teams and a softball team, I'm running the column today with today's and Monday's schedules at the bottom of this column.
