NORMAN — The Oklahoma Sooners football team did what it had to do to make it a happy homecoming in this past weekend's home game against Texas Tech on a rainy, damp Saturday at Owen Field.
The Sooners had to come back twice, including withstanding a 17-point barrage by the Red Raiders in about a 5:30 span of the third quarter, to down the Red Raiders 38-30.
“I was really excited about our team's ability to win the game,” OU coach Bob Stoops said. “I'm really proud of our team to answer back during a couple of different times in the game. On both sides of the ball, we made plays when we needed to. Fortunately, offensively, we executed a little bit better. [Quarterback] Blake [Bell] and our receivers made some critical plays on third downs that we needed. We were 8-of-15 on third and fourth downs, and that's pretty good.”
