Panama girls, Pocola boys win district titles; seasons come to an end for Lady Indians, Razorbacks

SALLISAW — The Panama Lady Razorbacks and the Pocola Indians won titles in the Class 2A District Tournament on Saturday night, both beating the host Sallisaw-Central teams.
The Lady ’Backs rallied from a five-point deficit in overtime to down the host Lady Tigers 56-53, while the Indians defeated the host Tigers 65-54.
Both the Panama girls and the Pocola boys will play Ketchum in the Class 2A Regional Tournament on Thursday night in Ketchum at 6:30 p.m. (girls) and 8 p.m. (boys), respectively. The winners not only will play for the regional title Saturday night at Tahlequah High School, but will also automatically qualify for next week's area tournament at the Muskogee Civic Center.
The Sallisaw-Central teams ended the seasons for the Pocola Lady Indians and the Panama Razorbacks on Friday night. The Lady Indians fell 50-45 in overtime, while the Hogs lost 67-48.
