WISTER â€” Summer won't be here until June, but it came in the form of senior guard Summer Stockton on Tuesday night for the Panama Lady Razorbacks in the 82nd LeFlore County Tournament at the Wister Gym.
Down 13 points in the final period, Stockton hit a long-range 3-point basket with 18 seconds left to tie the game at 62 to force overtime with the Arkoma Lady Mustangs, then used a 10-3 extra period to complete the comeback win 72-65 in Tuesday night's championship quarterfinal.
The Lady Razorbacks will play Poteau at 8:40 tonight on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium in Talihina in the semifinals with the winner playing for the title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Talihina. The loser will play for third place at 1 p.m. Saturday in Talihina.
The other quarterfinal played saw the top boys seed, the Spiro Bulldogs, prove to be too much for the Leflore Savages in a 63-38 victory.
The â€™Dogs will meet tournament-host Talihina at 7:20 p.m. Friday in Talihina to make it to the finals at 8 p.m. Saturday in Talihina. The loser will play for third place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Talihina.
The Lady Mustangs and the Savages were in fifth-place semifinal contest on Wednesday. On the girls' side, Arkoma played Talihina with the winner meeting the Heavener-Bokoshe winner for fifth place at 4:40 p.m. Friday in Talihina.
The Savages met Pocola, with the victor playing the Whitesboro-Heavener winner at 6 p.m. Friday in Talihina for fifth place.
Both Wister teams staved off elimination with victories on their home court on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats got past Cameron 47-41, while the â€™Cats handled Bokoshe 50-35.
The Wister girls played Whitesboro in the consolation semifinals Wednesday afternoon, with the winner meeting the Leflore-Pocola winner for the consolation championship at 4:40 this afternoon in Talihina.
The Wister boys faced Arkoma in the consolation semifinals Wednesday night with the winner facing the Panama-Cameron winner for the consolation title at 6 tonight in Talihina.
