Panama Razorbacks get shot at No. 1 Vian on Friday night

October 31, 2012

If ever there seemed to be a David vs. Goliath match-up in high school football, that match-up would appear to be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at George Ollie Stadium when the Panama Razorbacks entertain Class 2A's top-ranked Vian Wolverines in a District 2A-6 contest.
The Razorbacks (4-5 overall, 3-2 in district play) are on a four-game winning streak after beating archrival Pocola 20-14 last week at home. The win clinched third place for the Hogs and sent them into the playoffs, which will begin next week. There's still an atmosphere of excitement in town over the second straight win in as many years over the rival Indians.
“The town is still buzzing because it hasn't been done in a long time,” said Brandon Ellis, Panama's second-year coach, about making the postseason parade. “The support and the enthusiasm is coming back.”
