PANAMA — When the Panama Lady Razorbacks softball team won the Class 2A Regional Tournament Friday afternoon with a win over Calera when second baseman Lauren Smith turned an unassisted double play to end the title game, perhaps the happiest individual of them all was senior third baseman Becky Brown.
“I started crying,” Brown said. “I threw my glove up in the air. Through a traveling team we won state my seventh-grade year. Just that initial feeling that it is happening again. It's been a Lady ’Back tradition to go to state. When I got to high school, we stopped going to state. It's an awesome feeling to know we did it, and we started the tradition again. It's a great feeling — I love it. But it's not just me. I know I'm the only senior, but there's my teammates and coaches. I wouldn't be where I'm at if it wasn't for them.”
