Panama seniors primed for their first-ever postseason run; Hogs to hit the road to meet No. 10 Okemah tonight as Class 2A playoffs get under way

PANAMA — When they were freshmen, sophomores and juniors, success was hard to come by for two Panama Razorback football players — quarterback Trevor Bourne and running back/defensive lineman Jacob Vick. During their sophomore season in 2010, the Hogs went 0-10. Finally, Panama's 17-game losing streak was snapped in a Week 8 victory over archrival Pocola in 2011.
For Panama's terrific twosome, their senior season in 2012 has been very successful, especially in the latter half of the campaign. The Hogs had a four-game winning streak, which was snapped last week in their regular-season finale against No. 1 Vian.
However, despite the loss, the Razorbacks grabbed the third playoff spot from District 2A-6 when Hartshorne defeated its archrival Wilburton last week. When it became official that the Hogs were playoff bound, the excitement commenced.
Should the Razorbacks begin what would be a five-game winning streak tonight with an upset of the 10th-ranked Okemah Panthers at 7:30 p.m. tonight, it would mean the Hogs would be Class 2A state champions.
