Panama soldier killed in Afghanistan

A hometown son has lost his life after being targeted by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
Spc. Robert Allan Pierce, 20, of Panama was one of two soldiers killed Monday in an insurgent attack in Tsamkani, Afghanistan.
Captain Ebony Malloy with the International Security Assistance Forces said Tuesday that two ISAF members [Pierce and Justin L. Sisson, 23, of Phoenix, Ariz.] were killed during a vehicle borne improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan [Monday]. The attack also killed and wounded several Afghan civilians.
Initial news reports stated the insurgent was on a motorcycle traveling through the Paktia Province near a school when the bomb was detonated. Ten children, that reports say were leaving the school at the time of the attack, also were killed and 15 other children injured.
According to the Department of Defense, Pierce and Sisson where assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
